Danabol is one of the best anabolic steroids with a strong anabolic and androgenic effect, which can lead to a considerable build up of strength and muscle mass. It is used as an aid to muscle growth by bodybuilders. Danabol can dramatically increase protein synthesis, glycogenolysis and muscle strength in a very short period of time, reason for which it in a testosterone and nandrolone based cycle dianabol is often used at the beginning. However, due to its mode of action, it decreases the rate of cell respiration and decreases production of red blood cells. Danabol is liver toxic and can cause considerable strain on the liver in high doses and over extended periods of time. This is due to the alkylation which is added to the steroid molecule to enable it to survive the first pass hepatic metabolism and thus greatly increase the drugs bioavailability. It can also increases blood pressure and heart rate can occur, and in extreme cases may require the use of an antihypertensive drug such as catapressin.
